On the road from Delhi to Agra.
You can't tell from this picture, but something is amiss in my digestive tract.
Today I'm writing for Studio 30 Plus. If you're not familiar with Studio 30 Plus, you should check it out. It's a community for bloggers over 30. Of course I'm only 29, but they made a special exception in my case.
Please read today's post here:
I wasn't sure how to comment over there and am way too lazy to sign up for anything so I'm commenting here. That was an awesome post. Minus the smell, it reminded me a little bit of traveling through Morocco and seeing tent city slums directly across the streets from golden domed mosques. Nice job turning a sad reality check into a unique story of soul mate confirmation. Did you do the jackknife in India?
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to sign up there to comment, but wanted to be sure you knew how much I enjoyed that post. Fabulous, my dear!
ReplyDeleteI have never really wanted to visit India, and you've kind of confirmed my reasons why.
I just don't think I could bear seeing that much suffering.
Sorry a (presumably) long-awaited trip was such a disappointment. All that anticipation, and all that unrelenting misery. Whew.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm of the opinion that every experience builds us, especially travel.
On a political note, I'd like to send representatives of a certain political party to New Delhi to smell what unfettered, unregulated capitalism smells like.
Ah yes, the first rhea attack is a milestone in every relationship, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful piece. I love that you began with the smell. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteis fred multi-lingual?
ReplyDeleteare you? I know you know a bit of french, but what else?
Hey, where'd my comments go? Deleted!
ReplyDelete@Wow: India was not sexy enough for the jackknife.
@Susan: I hear you need to stay more than a week to appreciate it.
@La Piazza: It definitely was a life-changing trip. It made me appreciate how much we have here. No doubt.
@Mel Heth: I'd rather it wasn't.
@Blissed Out: Thank you. It was a much longer piece but I tried to hack it down to a palatable blog size.
@Kristina: Yes, I speak French and he speaks German. Though he claims he doesn't speak much. Whatever.
I'll have to check this out...

I tried to sign up to comment, but it wouldn't let me sign up without a link to a blog and I don't blog anymore. Realized I wasn't terribly interesting!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm curious where all of the beautiful imagery of India in your mind's eye came from? I always just picture those Sally Struthers commercials that my mom would never let me send money to when I was little.
Also, stop lying about being 29. You're not a day over 25 and you know it, lady.
i am over 40. and the intestinal distress gets worse after 30, so brace yourself. ugh ugh ugh! lol
ReplyDelete@Pearl: Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Blonde Steel: Wasn't Sally Struthers in Africa?
@drollgirl: After 30, you say? Well I wouldn't know anything about that.
*Looks away*
I'm with Wow: I would have commented on the site, but I am too lazy to sign up. I loved this post. It was beautifully written, especially given the nature of the sensitive subject. As I was reading, I kept hearing Alannis Morrisette's song, "Thank you, India."
